Justin Bieber broke a new record at the American Music Awards ceremony by clinching the best male pop artist award for the fifth time, a feat no other musician has achieved before. Hailing from Stratford, Ontario, Bieber had already held the record with four previous wins, starting back in 2010 when he won the award under its former name, favorite pop/rock male artist.
Entering this year’s awards in Las Vegas with four nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for his work on “Swag,” Bieber added to his impressive collection with this latest victory, bringing his total AMA wins to 19. This ties him with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-most wins by a male artist, trailing behind the legendary Michael Jackson, who holds the top spot with 24 awards.
Recently, the singer made a triumphant return to the stage at Coachella, where he headlined the event, marking his first major performance since he had to cancel a tour in 2022 due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Among the other notable winners at the awards show were BTS, who secured the artist of the year title, and Sabrina Carpenter, who took home the album of the year award.
