Peabo Bryson, a prominent R&B singer who won Grammy awards and was known for his iconic duets in Disney films, such as Beauty and the Beast with Céline Dion and Aladdin’s A Whole New World with Regina Belle, has passed away at the age of 75.

In a statement released by his family, they expressed their deep sorrow over the loss but found solace in the widespread love and impact Bryson had through his music over his five-decade career. Apart from his Disney hits, Bryson was a celebrated balladeer in the R&B genre with popular songs like Feel the Fire, I’m So Into You, and Can You Stop the Rain.

Céline Dion, who collaborated with Bryson on Beauty and the Beast, shared her condolences in a post on X, praising his talent and the joy he brought through music. The song, written and produced by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, won Grammy and Academy Awards, with Angela Lansbury performing it at the Oscars.

Born in South Carolina, Bryson, a singer, songwriter, and balladeer, worked with various record labels and artists throughout his career, including Minnie Riperton, Roberta Flack, and Natalie Cole. His collaborations produced several chart-topping hits, including Tonight, I Celebrate My Love with Flack and Can You Stop the Rain.

In 2018, Bryson made a comeback with his album Stand for Love, produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, followed by Grace in February. Aside from music, Bryson also appeared in stage productions and had a successful recovery from a heart attack in 2019 before his recent stroke.

Tributes poured in from fellow artists and fans, with comedian Loni Love reminiscing about a special moment she shared with Bryson on a cruise ship. The family announced that details for a memorial and celebration of Bryson’s life will be disclosed at a later date.
