Marco Schwarz secured victory in the super-G event in Livigno, Italy, marking his second win in a week and his first in a speed discipline after a two-year hiatus from World Cup triumphs due to a knee injury. Schwarz outperformed the Swiss trio of Alexis Monney, Franjo von Allmen, and Marco Odermatt, who trailed by two to three-tenths of a second. Livigno served as a substitute venue for the traditional Bormio course for this event, where Odermatt maintained his lead in the super-G rankings despite Vincent Kriechmayr and Raphael Haaser failing to complete their runs.
The challenging Li Zeta course in Livigno, with its high altitude start and steep gradients, posed difficulties for many racers, particularly at two critical jumps. Odermatt struggled to regain time lost to Schwarz at the first jump due to a sharp turn, while Kriechmayr’s potential victory hopes were dashed at the second jump when he skied off course. French skier Matthieu Bailet also missed out on a podium finish after a mishap at the final jump. Canadian racer Cameron Alexander finished as the top Canadian in 16th place, with Czech racer Jan Zabystran finishing outside the top 20.
