Canadian ski cross racer Courtney Hoffos, who had secured a spot in the upcoming Winter Games, did not slow down despite the achievement. In an Instagram post, she mentioned her competitive spirit and determination to push boundaries in every race. Unfortunately, Hoffos will miss the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics due to a knee injury sustained during a World Cup event in Arosa, Switzerland. This setback has also dashed the Olympic aspirations of two other Canadian athletes, ski cross racer India Sherret and snowboarder Liam Brearley.

Hoffos underwent surgery to address injuries to her tibial plateau, medial collateral ligament, and meniscus. Expressing gratitude for the support she received, Hoffos emphasized the need to focus on recovery and appreciate the smaller moments in life.

Despite securing a silver medal in the World Cup season opener in Val Thorens, France, Hoffos will not be able to compete in the Winter Games. After missing a previous season due to an ACL injury, she made a strong comeback, achieving notable success in various competitions.

Sherret, a former Olympian, revealed that she will also miss the Olympics due to tearing her ACL and MCL during a crash in Val Thorens. The emotional impact of missing the Games was evident in her social media post, where she expressed disappointment but remained hopeful for a strong return.

Similarly, Brearley, a snowboarding world champion, announced his withdrawal from the Winter Games following knee and ankle injuries. Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about his recovery and future competitions, emphasizing the importance of a long-term career over immediate goals.

Both Sherret and Brearley received overwhelming support from their respective communities and are focusing on regaining strength for future competitions. While their absence from the Winter Games is disappointing, they are determined to overcome this challenge and return stronger than before.
