A 20-year-old individual has been accused of making threats against Ontario Premier Doug Ford, as confirmed by provincial police on Thursday. The Ontario Provincial Police, responsible for premier protection, initiated the investigation in mid-February, resulting in the suspect being charged with uttering threats to cause harm. Details regarding the threat’s nature or method of communication were not disclosed by OPP spokesperson Kalleen Turchet to maintain the investigation’s integrity. The suspect hails from Alliston, Ontario, located approximately 80 kilometers north of Toronto. Following his release from custody, the man is scheduled to appear in court on April 9 in Bradford, Ontario.
