Rowan MacLachlan, as a teenager, requested to use a guitar strap from his father for a performance at Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon. Little did his father know, Rowan chose a strap signed by Joan Baez in 1985, long before his birth. In an interview with CBC’s Saskatoon Morning, Rowan mentioned that the strap held sentimental value to his father.
When Dave MacLachlan was a young musician, his band, MacLachlan Grace Read, frequently performed at a Saskatoon club named the Artful Dodger. During one of their gigs, Joan Baez visited and even joined the band for a few songs. She signed Dave’s guitar strap, creating a cherished memory.
Years later, Rowan borrowed the strap for a performance and unfortunately lost it. Feeling regretful about the incident, he expressed his desire to recover the meaningful artifact. Despite the long time passed since its disappearance, Rowan remains hopeful for its return and has sought help by sharing his story on Reddit.
The lost guitar strap holds immense sentimental value for Rowan’s father, especially since one of his former bandmates has passed away. Rowan believes that finding the strap would not only be a personal redemption but also bring immense joy to his father.
